"Board member Alban Savage reviewed the following Innovation book

and wishes to share his views with the membership;

Solving the Right Problems with the Right Ideas - John B Gerrie"

"I came across this interesting and unique book a short time ago and had the
opportunity to meet with the author. What makes this unique is that rather than being
a 250 page text, the main content in the book is a pull out and use template and
guideline to using a 12 step KN3W IDEAS process.

The author, John Gerrie, has many years practical experience in this area and that
knowledge and experience came shining through when I met with him. The ideas in
this book come from those many years wrestling with the problems of innovation.

The basic premise of the book and process is around the front end of innovation and
how to arrive at the right idea. John’s methodology pulls together a wide array of
ideation, strategic development and problem solving techniques into one systematic
process to help identify the right ideas before committing resources.

The major theme is to identify what are the customer’s problems “satisfying customer
need is solving their problems”.

The book uses many examples and illustrations through history of success and failure
in relation to this issue. The 12 step process then takes you through a structured
approach in identifying those critical customer problems; how to look for new
solutions and unlock the intellectual capacity of the whole organisation; and how to
implement the idea."
